Generosity Fills the ReStore - Giving to their Community

Mike Williams, a frequent ReStore customer, came into the Collister location recently and asked General Manager Jake Crist if Habitat would be interested in some lumber, plywood, and other building products. When Mike explained that the materials were in New Meadows, Jake asked him to send a photo or two. He needed to determine if and when we could commit the resources to retrieve this donation. When Jake received the photos his first thought was “We’re going to need a bigger truck”.

The next weekend two semi-trailers (courtesy of the Turf Company) and the Habitat construction trailer arrived in New Meadows and were loaded with a warehouse full of lumber. 16 bunks* of plywood, 6 bunks of dimensional lumber, cases of nails, joist hangers, and miscellaneous other building hardware. According to a recent appraisal the retail value of this donation was approximately $25,000.

Since moving to Idaho Mike and Marilyn Williams have given generously to their community. They believe that their good fortune in their business and personal life should be shared and they have worked to do just that. We are very fortunate that they were aware of Habitat for Humanity and our Mission. Their generous donation will contribute to the ongoing success of the ReStore and its support for our operations.

* A “bunk” of plywood is 4’ x 4’ x 8’ and contains 40 to 80 sheets depending on thickness. A bunk of 2 x 4 is approximately 294 pieces.
