Htoo Family Dedication

Home dedications are a culminating event for Treasure Valley Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers, community partners, and staff come together to celebrate with the Habitat family. On May 16th we had an opportunity to celebrate with the Paul Htoo, his wife Mi, and their four children as they became our newest homeowners. Joye Jones, current Habitat board president, spoke of the Habitat mission and its importance, while Dave Martin shared the story of the Htoo’s difficult and often terrifying journey from Burma to the United States. He also talked about of the wonderful, hardworking family he has come to know through being their family partner. Dave also provided the blessing for the home after presenting keys to the Htoo's new home.

As housing costs skyrocket, fewer families are able to afford a home of their own. Today, more people than ever are struggling to share in the dream of homeownership. Donations to Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity made it possible for the Htoo family to purchase their own decent, affordable home.
