Living in Meridian, Idaho, veteran and homeowner Randy desperately needed his house repainted in order to protect it from the elements. Quality exterior paint works as an added layer of protection, helping to keep a home safe from weather damage, insects, and dust. Randy’s only request, according to the Idaho Veterans Chamber of Commerce? That the house be painted blue and gold.
A Navy veteran, Randy grew up in Idaho but was stationed in Alaska and the Philippines while serving his country. After working with the Idaho Veterans Chamber of Commerce, his home was identified as needing to be completely repainted.
As a Veterans Build affiliate, Treasure Valley Habitat for Humanity was glad to partner with homeowner Randy on his newly painted home. Safe, decent, and affordable housing is the centerpiece of a Veterans Build, and Randy’s project and situation exemplified this needed work in its overall scope.
Randy was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, making him unable to complete the needed paint job by himself. A combination of his recovery from cancer and general aging made the job impossible to complete on his own. Thanks to the help of Treasure Valley Habitat for Humanity and Idaho Veterans Chamber of Commerce volunteers, his home is now safe and protected.
Randy is proud of his blue and gold home and is thankful for the time and effort of the many volunteers that worked to repaint it.
"It's my dream come true,” said Randy. “Thank you all for making it possible!"
